The Titusville Redevelopment Authority has acquired several historic
commercial properties in the heart of the city's Commercial District. These
properties consist of three adjoining commercial storefronts and approximately 24,000
square feet of upper story space in these and other neighboring buildings. These
buildings are steeped in the rich history of Titusville's oil boom and at one time, held
the offices of such notables as Rockefeller and Joseph Pew. The photo studio of the
"Oil Region Photographer John Mather was found intact and will be restored as an
attraction to the valleys 60,000 tourists which visit the Drake Well site each year. At the
present time, this space is undergoing extensive rehabilitation. Through phased
development, the Titusville Redevelopment Authority continues to remove
disincentives to private sector development until it makes economic sense for
private sector to take over. The Authority’s efforts in the removal of the
architectural barriers associated with these buildings began with the
installation of a four-story elevator to provide handicapped accessibility to
the upper floors as well as critical building stabilization efforts. New roofs
were installed on all three buildings and we have also started the process of
upgrading the utilities and installing fire suppression systems (sprinklers) in
these buildings as well as renovating the common areas. A condominium agreement
has been drafted that will enable tenants to purchase their space leaving the
Redevelopment Authority responsible for the maintenance and up-keep of all
common areas. The prospective tenants that the Authority has begun working with
are in favor of this approach and fully support our efforts.
Potential investors and tenants are invited to make inquiries at any time during the
renovation process. Remodeling, to suite your special accommodations, is currently
possible for endeavors that are consistent with the community development plan
Inquiries should be directed to Michael Allyn
