Salvagedirect.com, an innovative e-commerce business located within Titusville Opportunity Park, has recently received the nod from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and has been awarded the distinction of being one of only five statewide contractors permitted to offer online titling for salvaged vehicles. Founded in 1998 by Titusville resident Bob Joyce, Salvage Direct is an online salvage vehicle management company that employs the Internet to market salvage vehicles for insurance companies and financial institutions to licensed dealers and dismantlers. This online venue provides an interactive auction format in which salvage vehicles are marketed directly to buyer’s 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All bids are open rather than sealed, keeping buyers and sellers aware of the current bid, conversely creating competitive bidding. Salvage Direct never actually takes possession of the vehicles, buyers purchase directly from the insurance companies and financial institutions. Using this efficient model, Salvage Direct has been able to streamline the traditional process making it more efficient and effective. Joyce explained, “Online titling will enable us to cut 3-6 weeks out of the sales cycle for a salvage vehicle.
